I taught middle and high school social science for ten years. Then I spent ten years as a Professor of Education at the University of Central Florida, working with the people about to walk into their own certification exams.

Both decades pointed at the same thing. The candidates who struggled were rarely the ones who did not know the content. They were the ones nobody had taught how to work a test.

In 2016 I founded The Learning Liaisons to do that work at scale. It was acquired in 2021, and I stayed on to lead test preparation until May 2026. Across that career I helped more than 70,000 teachers and leaders prepare for certification exams.

That is the reason to listen to me rather than a claim about any one method. I have watched a very large number of people sit these exams, and I have read a very large number of score reports.

My teaching and learning methods were studied independently in 2025 and measured against the major prep platforms. First-attempt pass rates came out roughly double.

These exams are roughly eighty percent strategy and twenty percent content. Most people pour their preparation into the twenty and wonder why the number barely moves. Knowing the material and being able to produce it under timed conditions, with four plausible answers in front of you, are different skills.
