Why your state might not list the Praxis

The Praxis is a national vendor, not a national requirement. Each state decides whether to adopt it. Texas licenses teachers on the TExES and TX PACT, Georgia on the GACE, New York on the NYSTCE, Ohio on the OAE. Showing you the Praxis under Texas would tell you the opposite of the truth, so exams a state does not use are listed in their own section.

Exams that are the same in every state

Around 112 are identical wherever you sit them, because no state adopts or declines them. The NCLEX, the ASVAB, the SAT and ACT, AP exams, the USMLE, the FINRA series and the IT certifications. Those appear under every state.

Where the state requirements come from

Four sources: each state department’s own published requirements, ETS’s per-state Praxis requirements feed, ETS’s passing-score tables, and Pearson’s per-state test lists for the National Evaluation Series. Where we have not mapped a state, the page says so rather than guessing.
